Plans for First Phase of Much-Anticipated Hub Approved by New Brunswick Planning Board

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The first detailed look at the much-anticipated $665 million New Jersey Innovation and Technology Hub has revealed that it is an innovation unto itself.

The most prominent component of the first phase of the project, which was unveiled and unanimously approved at Monday’s Planning Board meeting, will be a unique 12-story, 560,000-square-foot building.

Three floors of innovational spaces will be built on top of four floors dedicated to the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School which will be built on top of three floors dedicated to some 80 Rutgers translational researchers.

The medical school will also be located on the top floor.

“Often in innovation environments, you see all these components in separate buildings, but in our particular case, we are stacking them all into a single building,” architect John Martin said at Monday’s meeting.
